Cardiff, independently.

About Helo

A little more local. A little more curious.

Helo is a bilingual directory for discovering independent businesses in Cardiff. A coffee stop, a haircut, somewhere new to try: it’s a starting point for getting to know the city through its local businesses.

There’s more around the corner.

Independent businesses help give Cardiff’s streets their character. Helo exists to make them easier to find, with useful facts you can browse by interest or neighbourhood and follow up directly with the business.

An independent project, made in Cardiff.

Helo is an independent project created and run by Jad El Omeiri, a Cardiff-based software engineer.

The focus is simple: a useful local guide, with clear information and room to discover somewhere you might otherwise miss.

Two languages. One city.

You can explore Helo in English or Welsh because both belong in Cardiff’s everyday life. The bilingual pages help you find your way around the directory; they do not mean every listed business offers service in Welsh. Ask the business directly about language preferences.

Free to be included. Reviewed with care.

Anyone can suggest an independent Cardiff business. Inclusion is free and each request is reviewed independently: checking independence, location, duplicates and factual business details before publication. A request does not create a listing, and inclusion is not guaranteed.

Listings are alphabetical, with no paid ranking. Commercial relationships do not decide inclusion or position. A listing gives you information to make your own choice; it is not an endorsement or a promise of quality.

Helo’s aim is to connect you directly with businesses. A business’s own website is eligible regardless of who built or hosts it. The editorial preference is for direct business destinations over third-party marketplaces.
